小提琴家霍普的曾祖父在1890年代從愛爾蘭沃特福德前往南非，開啟了新生活。雖然霍普從未在愛爾蘭居住，但在1970年代初，因被迫離開南非尋求政治庇護時，愛爾蘭接納了霍普及其無國籍家族，給予他們國籍。這一身分深深影響了霍普的生活和音樂創作，也促使他創作紀錄片《居爾特夢：霍普的隱秘愛爾蘭歷史》。在音樂學家奧利維耶•富雷的支持下，霍普開始探索愛爾蘭民間音樂與古典音樂的聯繫。這一探索最終催生了《愛爾蘭根源》專輯，為霍普追尋其音樂DNA中愛爾蘭元素的自然延伸。

《愛爾蘭根源》是這段音樂旅程的結晶，專輯收錄了愛爾蘭二十世紀作曲家伊娜•博伊爾和大詩人兼豎琴手奧卡羅蘭的作品，經典的《丹尼男孩》，以及三百年前在愛爾蘭風靡一時的維瓦第《和諧的靈感》協奏曲。

霍普的新專輯匯聚了眾多傑出的愛爾蘭音樂家，包括傳統音樂團體Lúnasa、豎琴手雪凡•阿姆斯壯、長笛演奏家詹姆斯與珍•高威夫婦、歌手瑞亞•加維、多樂器演奏家與民間音樂家羅斯•戴利、希臘小提琴家帕帕納斯，以及由蓋斯指揮的希臘塞薩洛尼基國家交響樂團。
