The world’s richest person, Elon Musk, has recently made an offer of US$44 billion to purchase the popular social media platform Twitter. After originally turning Musk down, the company’s board of directors unanimously approved the deal. Musk was overjoyed to hear the news and stated that he would improve upon the overall functions of Twitter, such as the ability to edit posts and allowing more text in posts to be written.
Twitter co-founder , Jack Dorsey, said that he has full confidence in Musk’s ability to support free speech and to allow for conversations to continue on Twitter. However, many people, including celebrities and organizations, fear that this may be the end of Twitter. They worry that the lack of policing will lead to a more common spread of hate speech and false information. But as for now, we will have to wait and see what happens next.
