With a case of books
and half cup of wine,
I left for the strange land alone in farewell cries.
Standing on the prow,I suddenly looked behind.
Into river the moon poured its shine.
On the Mid-autumn night,
full moon was frosted to white.
I soaked in study with cold lamplight.
The roofs were dyed silver by moonshine,
while a glimmer of lights dyed the welkin outside.
The luna softly lit my surround,
reminded me of old house at the old town,
the branches spring flowers bloomed on,
and the beams autumn swallows flew around.
Year over year a stray got lost,
stealthily transposed mother tongue.
Folk may ask me where you"re from.
Would they know I was raised by this ground?
My parents pawned clothes
and traded food suplies
to send letter to inquire my life.
Bumped across the seas, the writing was blurred.
Head raised with tears out of eyes.
The moonlight took me in her arms.
I asked her "where"s my hometown?"
On boat, hearing the bellman"s beat,
my consciousness slowly got numb.
Do not turn head however I want.
Reality will break all dreams down.
Through window I glanced the water by piers
seemed to be covered by hoarfrost in calm.
On the ether, a jady rotund.
Its shine led the gaze homeward bound.
In a bowl of limpid river water,
my crusted gaunt in heart was drowned.
Better to make my yearning aground,
with decades surging without sound.
Something withered like autumn weeds.
By winds from birthland were my dreams drunk.
