There are strategies that Niantic no doubt already employs:
The most obvious… jumping across huge distances instantly. If I’m in Texas, then within seconds I appear in California, flagged!
Matching the GPS data to the accelerometer/gyroscope data, seeing if they make sense together. If those devices say you’ve been heading west for an hour, but then you appear 60 miles east, flagged!
Niantic has done what it could to leverage the API of mobile platforms to detect blatant cheating. Enabling “Mock Locations” on your Android phone will disable Pokemon Go’s GPS.
